In this talk, collectors with various backgrounds and positions in the art scene, from gallerists and directors of non-profit institutions to artists discuss the ups and downs of collecting contemporary art. These backgrounds have resulted in their different approach to collecting art.
Daniele Balice, a Parisian gallerist, insists on the importance of getting educated about art we collect as the collection will be a legacy of an era. Kamran Diba, the former director of Tehran’s Museum of Contemporary Art, illustrates the significance of a public collection as a source of reference for representing an art scene. Huma Kabakci talks about collecting as a lifestyle, a collection is considered a live being to her. Hamidreza Pejman circulates these topics and links them to the current scene of collecting contemporary Iranian art.
