4 September – 14 October 2020
Artists Statement: ‘’I am in the third building from the right, in the third unit on the eighth floor. I don’t know if you can see me or not, but I can tell it’s not easy for you to find me. I am the first person to speak. They had told me the buildings were under construction. They said they were being pre-sold. But I later found out people lived here before, but now they are all gone. The buildings are abandoned. I am in unit five on the sixteenth floor now. I am the first person to speak. They had told me the buildings were under construction. They said they were being pre-sold. But I later found out people lived here before, but now they are all gone. The buildings are abandoned. I am in unit five on the sixteenth floor now. The person whose voice you heard from the eighth floor is the one who thought these buildings were being pre-sold. She’s me. I was sure from day one that the units here had been pre-sold a while ago. And now no one is willing to live here anymore. I am now in the sixth building from the left, unit ten on the twenty-second floor. The previous person was the first person, and I am no one but the third person. The other two think this place is abandoned, but in fact, there is no building here. We only think there is. I am in the tenth building from the right, unit two hundred and fifty, on the thirtieth floor. It’s unclear who I am, but whoever I am, I previously believed I was someone whose voice you heard three times before.’’
“For the sake of Calmness” is the latest project by Newsha Tavakolian, exhibited on September 4th at the basement of Pejman Foundation: Argo Factory.
